Brain Health

One Powerful Organ

Have you ever heard we only use 10 percent of our brain power? It's not true, yet two-thirds of the population believe this! While there may be moments when the brain is firing lower frequencies, such as when we are sleeping at night, we regularly use virtually every part of the brain and most of the brain is active almost all of the time.

The brain acts as the main command center for every function, thought, and feeling we experience. The average human brain weighs approximately 3 pounds and uses 20% of the body’s energy.

Most of the energy consumed by the brain is attributed to the rapid firing of millions of neurons communicating with each other. The rest is used for both voluntary and involuntary activities such as driving a car or controlling body temperature respectively.

The brain haw three main areas, the forebrain, midbrain, and hindbrain. Each section contains additional segments, such as, the cerebrum, the brainstem, and the cerebellum which are the primary components of the brain.

Other important segments include the thalamus, hypothalamus, and cerebral cortex.

Right or Left

The human brain is divided into the left and right hemispheres connected by a bundle of nerve fibers called the corpus callosum.

The theory behind right-brain, left-brain dominance, and different thinking styles was introduced by Nobel Prize winner Roger W. Sperry.

Each side of the brain controls the opposite side of the body, for example, the left brain controls all the muscles on the right side of the body, and vice versa. However, many are unaware that the brain fires signals to the same side for non-voluntary functions such as maintaining healthy posture.

If you consider yourself to think more logically, analytically, and objectively, you might be a left brain thinker. However, if you feel you’re more intuitive, thoughtful, and subjective, you may be a right brain thinker.

Boost your brain health

When it comes to brain health, prevention of disease is key. Cognitive functions may naturally decline as we age and neurological disorders are becoming more and more prevalent.

Simple lifestyle changes can improve your brain health and ultimately improve your quality of life which is why I invite you to attend my next webinar, Brain Health on Wednesday, June 17th at 1:00 pm MDT.

During this experience, you will learn about how the brain functions, neurological disorders of the brain and central nervous system, and methods for maintaining brain health.

The lifestyle modifications we will discuss in this webinar include physical health and exercise, diet and nutrition, cognitive activity, and social engagement. Join me to learn more!

Can’t Wait To Share With You On Wednesday, June 17th At 1:00 pm MDT!
